To be taught by the Lord
Isaiah 54:13 says, "All your sons (and daughters) will be taught by the Lord and great will be your childrens peace." The truth of the matter is that every teacher is not being led by God and every student doesn't hear you. I had a student in my orchestra class. I'll call him Jim. Jim was a very intelligent Asian kid with charisma and a negative disposition. He was the kid that always had the coolest and latest techno gadget. He talked a lot and rarely listened but, performed at an average level with little effort. I was instructing the orchestra and he was talking so I asked him, "Jim how do you explain this time signature?" Jim replied, "Im sorry Mr Woodis, I was listening, but I didn't hear you?" He was very sincere and honest. I wrote the quote down with a sharpie on a big index card and hung it on the board with his name and the date. Each class Jim began to do a little better each week until Jim joined the orchestra seriously once again. When the Lord is teaching we should be all ears with an open heart. John 6: 53-59 says, "Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. 57Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever." 59He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum. You must have Jesus in you to be taught of the Lord.
